Ryan Yarbrough, 12-5, with solid peripherals across the board, but zero QS. In a QS league he has little to no value, but in wins league he is properly valued. This is a trend that is going to continue, Wins are an imperfect stat, but better than the alternative in a world with openers instead of starters. Unfortunately there is no quality appearance stat, so Wins it is for me.
Wins adds value to players that otherwise would have much less value, while I don't feel as though it subtracts greatly from the elite pitchers like DeGrom, regardless of how many wins DeGrom has, he is still very valuable.

Something like, you receive .5 count if 3-4.2 IP 1 or less ER, 1 point if 5-6.2 with 2 or less and 1 count if 7 or more with 3 or less

So... We should put more value on the Ryan Yarbrough's of the world...but not the J. DeGrom's? Got it...

R. Yarbrough's value, is properly set with ratios. He has a poor K/9 and average ratios across the board. R. Yarbrough doesn't need a boost in value. His peripheals, are far from solid. What TB is doing, will not continue nor will it become a trend.

I get what you're saying, Matt. Making MORE Pitchers valuable, which I agree with! But this isn't the way. I like the world where we're actually valuing the good pitchers, more. Not the marginal, long releivers, more.
The best argument for keeping Wins over QS can not be so R. Yarbrough, a long reliever w/ "meh" ratios, can be more valued. Especially, since we're talking about a singular team (Rays) managing their bullpen/rotation in a way, that exorbitantly rewards Yarbrough 12 Win's for no good reason other than, he throws multiple innings in a middle of the game.

We aren't suggesting using only the Win stat -- use both QS and W. Adding Wins, to go along with Quality Starts, covers both and also potentially enhances the value of bullpen pieces. Plus, Quality starts are going the way of the complete game category.
We are already on record as voting for both categories.

Ok. After seeing the poll and reading the feedback, I am going to leave the scoring cats alone.

Good discussion. I would concur with leaving the categories as they are.

I agree with Anthony.
Degrom might be the Cy Young winner.....with a .500 W-L record!
Holds category is needed in a league as deep as ours! ERA, WHIP and K-9 reflect the skill level of the SP. Wins are unpredictable nowadays, especially for RPs.
While QS is not a perfect measure of a pitcher's performance (ie: 3 runs in 6 IP is nothing to write home about IMHO), at least it's SOMETHING reflective in the pitcher's performance.
